The talk will have two main objectives: to present the French Institute (its organisation, its programmes in the sectors of cultural, higher education and scientific cooperation), and to present the French position on climate change, both through its preparation for the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris and through the actions organized by the Budapest French Institute in the coming months.

Lorant Czaran, a Programme Officer at the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) in Vienna, will be conducting a workshop on using satellite imagery on Thursday 14 October at 13:30 to 16:30. Lorant is the focal point on geospatial matters at UNOOSA and is also covering the domain of space technologies for environmental monitoring and natural resource management under the Programme on Space Applications; he is actively involved as well with the UN-SPIDER Platform (Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response).

Taking place in Sydney on November 12-19, the IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 is a milestone global forum on protected areas. Under the theme "Parks, people, planet: inspiring solutions", this once-in-a-decade event will group 4000+ people who will share inspiring stories, discuss approaches to conservation and sustainable development, and set the agenda for the next 10 years.
