Two of our students are part of this highly competitive program this year.
Denise Matias (Masters program class of 2012) successfully defended her PhD at the University of Bonn. Her topic was sustainability of forestry enterprises, focusing on indigenous wild honey gathering in a biosphere reserve on the island of Palawan, Philippines. Denise says: "My master's studies at CEU's Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy provided me with a very good foundation on the topic of sustainability, introducing not only the latest research but also the pioneering work of early systems thinkers.
I joined PhD program in Environmental Sciences and Policy Department in Central European University with a Master’s degree from International Relations and European Studies (IRES) Department in CEU and several years of working experience in World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Federal Russian Customs on the Russian Far East.
