Associate Professor Tamara Steger receives 2018 CEU Distinguished Teaching Award

Congratulations to Associate Professor Tamara Steger who received the 2018 CEU Distinguished Teaching Award, to be conferred at the opening of the 2018-19 academic year in September. Professor Steger is known to all, both colleagues and students as an ardent supporter of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning. We are proud of her recognition and wish her continuing success.

Experiential Learning through Internships

A project on Experiential Learning was successfully completed at Syslab within the Environmental Practicum course. The project, called “Experiential Learning through Internships and (guided) Reflection”, was supported by the CEU Teaching Development Grant. Its goal was to introduce a more structured reflection scheme and refinement of the Practicum course as a whole.

Doctoral Program Committee Chair announcement

Upon completing his term as Chair of the Doctoral Program Committee (DPC), effective May 6, 2018 Prof. Alexios Antypas has passed the torch to Prof. Guntra Aistara. We are grateful for Prof. Antypas’ service and reassured that the program will be in the good hands with Prof. Aistara. The DPC is now guiding a very healthy doctoral program with 28 full-time and 5 part-time students. Prof. Aistara will be serving as Chair for a term of three years.

Syslab's students visit UN

This week Syslab organized a day long trip for participants of “Disaster Management” (DM) and “Introduction to Geospatial Analysis” courses to United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) at UN Headquarters in Vienna. UNOOSA is responsible for promoting international cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space. This UN office is also managing the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER).
