Transatlantic Initiative for Environmental Justice

The Trans-Atlantic Initiative on Environmental Justice brings together EJ scholars, lawyers, and activists from the United States and Europe to develop strategies and trade lessons learned and best practices in EJ work on both sides of the Atlantic. A three-day workshop on promoting environmental justice was held in Budapest from October 27-30, 2005, involving participants from Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, England, Hungary, Macedonia, Romania, Scotland, Slovakia, and the United States. The workshop was made possible by grants from the Trust for Mutual Understanding , the Roma Participation Project of the Open Society Institute, the University of California, San Diego, and Central European University.
