As part of the staff-student seminar series of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy, Veronika Czakó will give a presentation on “Energy efficiency programs in the residential buildings sector: the Hungarian experience”. The presentation is based on research conducted in two Hungarian cities, Tatabánya and Nyíregyháza. Through the differing experience of the two cities, barriers and enabling factors experienced during the implementation of residential energy efficiency programs are identified. The case studies were carried out as part of a comparative study on climate change action in cities in Hungary and the UK.
About the speaker:
Veronika Czakó is a PhD candidate at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at CEU and is affiliated with the Center for Climate Change and Sustainable Energy Policy (3CSEP). Her research focuses on climate change action at the local level. As part of a comparative study of middle sized cities in the UK and Hungary she assesses how climate change action can be mainstreamed at the urban scale. She also analyses from a multilevel governance perspective the effects of the different national climate policy frameworks of the two countries on city level climate change action.
