ISEPEI and UNDP Run Joint ICTs for DRR Workshop

Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) professionals from all over the world have gathered at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest this week for a joint ISEPEI and UNDP "Innovations in Disaster Risk Management" workshop. Rastislav Vrbensky, the Director of the UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub for Europe and the CIS opened the workshop on Monday July 13th along with Margaret Bolter of CEU and course directors Viktor Lagutov (CEU) and Armen Grigoryan (UNDP).

Water Professionals Convene at CEU for "Bridging ICTs and Environment" Course

Water practitioners, academics, and decision-makers from Iran, Jamaica, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, and beyond are convening at CEU in Budapest for the ISEPEI "Making Information Talk and Technologies Work for Water Security" workshop this week, July 6-10. Run in cooperation with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and with support from the Abu Dhabi Global Environmental Data Initiative (AGEDI), this workshop features faculty from leading UN agencies, global environmental institutions, and the ICT industry, including UNEP, the Black Sea Commission, and Google.

Tamara Steger (Associate Professor) and Milos Milicevic (PhD Candidate) in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy presented their work on the anti-fracking movement in Europe in a paper entitled, " Local Communities in the Energy Market: A Place-Based Perspective on Unconventional Hydrocarbon Development" at the 12th International Conference on the European Energy Market in Lisbon, Portugal, 19-22 May 2015.
