Mukesh Gupta, Ph.D. Student is teaching under Roma Access Program (RAP) to the students who want to apply for Master’s program in Environmental Sciences at the CEU/Western European/United States Universities at the end of the Academic Year 2012-2013. The Roma Access Program is a 9-month preparatory, non-degree program whose mission is to achieve the entrance of promising Roma youth into high quality international post-graduate programs in the Social Sciences and the Humanities.

Naira Harutyunyan, PhD Candidate, authors an article “Water Technologies in Ancient Armenia”. The article presents an overview of irrigation and water supply structures in Ancient Armenia during the pre-Urartian and the Urartian period, first named in Assyrian inscriptions around 1250 B.C. It presents hydraulic technology in Urartian urban centers and ancient irrigation systems around Van Lake.

Naira Harutyunyan, PhD Candidate, recently published a book “Genetic Engineering in Agricultural Landscapes: Controversy, International Policy-Making, Transnational Corporate Interests, and Implications for Armenia”. The book scrutinizes the claimed benefits and potential risks of GMOs, focusing on crops and food products, with consideration of implications for social and environmental sustainability. It investigates international GMO policy-making alongside the role of corporations in shaping global agrifood governance. The book then proceeds with analyses of the situation in Armenia.

Naira Harutyunyan, PhD candidate, published a research article “State versus private sector provision of water services in Armenia” in the Frontiers of Environmental Science and Engineering. The article was presented at the 8th International Conference on "Urban Watershed Management: Water Systems in Rapidly Urbanizing Areas" Beijing, China, September 06-08, 2011. The conference was organized by Tsinghua University (China), US Environmental Protection Agency, Environment and Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (USA), and H2-O (China).
