Abstract:  The lecture gives an overview of the UN Environment’s efforts to enhance institutional and human capacities towards effectively integrating and implementing the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the regional and country levels through engagements in regional intersectoral policy platform on environment and health issues, and the cooperative work – One UN – of the UN System in the region bringing different perspectives into one coherent message to address key development challenges. The lecture will also include an overview of preparations for the world's highest-level decision-making body on the environment “UN Environment Assembly” under the theme “Towards a Pollution-Free Planet” from 4-6 December 2017 and will demonstrate the opportunities for Non-Governmental Stakeholders to engage with UN Environment in this context.

Presenters: Wondy is principally responsible for the development, management and implementation of regional partnership and outreach activities on sustainable development issues in cooperation with governments, sister UN agencies and a wide-range of civil society organizations.
