Central and Eastern Europe is facing gradual decline of population, especially in the rural areas. At the same time productivity of traditionally strong agriculture remains high, and, as the recent Russian food embargo had demonstrated, Eastern Europe still is capable to produce huge food surplus. What to do with it in the world where markets are shrinking, yet objective demand from poorer countries remains high? How concepts of food affordability, food access and food security match for Central and Eastern European countries? Should they continue excessive food production (and if so, what food they should be producing) or shift to new cash crops like biofuels, or take land out of production through various nature protection or agro-environment schemes? What will happen with rural population? Will migration be capable to change existing trends?

These and similar questions we would like to put forward during the round table. Each discussant will prepare brief 10 minute presentation and after that discussion will follow.
