Theme: Sustainability in water management with regards to bridging the gap between water management for development and environmental needs in global and local contexts. Existing and potential problems in practical water management as well as best available solutions and approaches which can be followed by developing countries will be presented and discussed by
* Tobias Salathe, Senior adviser for Europe, Secretariat for Ramsar Convention - on ecosystem services, their recognition and payments;
* Annukka Lipponen, Senior coordinator, UNECE Water Convention Secretariat -on current status and challenges in preparing and adopting transboundary water agreements;
* Brenda Rashleigh, Senior ecologist, Ecological Society of America - on holistic integrated approaches to water resources management and ecosystem services.
* Jakob Granit, Program Director of the Stockholm International Water Institute – on sustainable water resources management and energy generation in developing countries (tbc)
