Go organic! mini documentary about local food communities in Budapest

February 22, 2019

Three CEU students: Nurma Fitrianingrum, Shawna Anderson, and Shubhangi Heda recently completed a mini documentary film about sustainable food communities as part of the Visual Studies Platform’s advanced certificate program in Visual Theory and Practice supported by the CEU Library’s Mirabaud Media Lab.

Their film “Go Organic – Transitioning to a healthier lifestyle by knowing where and how your food reaches you,” chronicled local food communities in Budapest, following food production from the farm to the dinner table. The film featured scenes from Zsamboki Biokert, a local four hectare organic vegetable farm outside of Budapest, along with members of the Szatyor Local Food Cooperative.

MESPOM graduate and CEU Environmental and Sustainability officer Logan Strenchock offered commentary within the film about his experiences as a team member in the garden, along with insights from Szatyor community members about what value there is in knowing more information about the origins of the foods they cook.
