CEU Water Day 2015

April 17, 2015

In relation to the course Environmental Politics, six course participants planned the CEU Water-Day 2015 entitled "Take a step for humanity". It was linked with the UN Water-Day and aimed to raise awareness and provide information about our daily water consumption. Beyond drinking water, water is in every product we use. It is important to know as there is only 2,5% freshwater on earth for humans and the ecosystem. With an increasing population and growing economy, water scarcity is a problem for a large number of people. That is why it is of utmost importance to raise awareness about it and make sustainable food and drink-choices. Students invited Szatyorbolt, the food cooperation, which also organizes the order of vegetable baskets in CEU and the project Ivoscap, a team of four architect students, who install tap water adapters on hydrants in the streets of Budapest.

The event was an overall success and organizers achieved their goal that CEU students became more aware that everybody can play a role in saving one of our most important resources: Water.
