PhD candidates authored the UNEP’s Global Environmental Outlook (GEO) -5, Chapter 11 “Europe”

June 18, 2012

Professor Ruben Mnatsakanian and PhD candidates Naira Harutyunyan, Anastasia Idrisova, and Nora Mzavanadze from the CEU Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy authored the UNEP's Global Environmental Outlook (GEO) -5, Chapter 11 “Europe”.

The GEO-5 was launched on June 6, 2012 globally in cities: Rio de Janiero, Panama City, Lima, Washington, New York, London, Brussels, Geneva, New Delhi, Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Bahrain, and Beijing. The main goal of UNEP’s GEO is to keep governments and stakeholders informed of the state and trends of the global environment. Over the past 15 years, the GEO reports have examined a wealth of data, information and knowledge about the global environment; identified potential policy responses; and provided an outlook for the future. The assessments, and their consultative and collaborative processes, have worked to bridge the gap between science and policy by turning the best available scientific knowledge into information relevant for decision makers.
