Between the 16th and 18th February 2010, Julia Leventon and Alexios Antypas will be hosting professors and researchers from the AquaTRAIN network. 25 international scientists will be visiting CEU to participate in their annual general assembly and a training workshop.
The general assembly is a chance for the network researchers to share their recent progress towards the network’s common goals. AquaTRAIN comprises 15 researchers (PhD and post-doc) and their supervisors and lead scientists. The researchers are based in 15 institutions around the EU and Switzerland. Their work is arranged into common aims and projects. Whilst communication between them is frequent, the general assembly provides an opportunity for the whole of the network to interact at once.
The visit to CEU also provides opportunities for career development. AquaTRAIN, has collaborated with Alan Watt in the Department of Environmental Science, Farhad Mukhtarov in CEU’s careers service and Eszter Timar in CEU’s Academic Writing Centre to develop a career development workshop. This workshop will coach researchers in job-hunting strategies and academic writing skills. It will also benefit other PhD students in the Department of Environmental Science, as the day is open to them too (with prior registration).
