Introduction to Environmental Management: Environmental Assessment of Products and Services

Course Description: 

The main objective is to equip the students with the ability to critically interpret and work with the results of different environmental assessment methods for products and services based on life cycle thinking. The students will learn about the principles of some mainstream assessment methods, such as lifecycle assessment (LCA), input-output LCA, material intensity accounting and ecological footprint, what answers can they provide and what are their strong and weak sides as well as their usage in organizational strategies.

Understand the purpose, key principles, and use of life-cycle assessment (LCA) and lifecycle think based environmental assessment methods for products and services

Class participation and exercise (40%) 

Exam (60%)

Prerequisites: 

This course is part of the Introduction to Environmental Management module and can only be taken together with other parts (Environmental Assessment of Products and Services and Introduction to Solid Waste Management)
