Learning Outcomes: 

1. Be familiar with the concepts, definitions, communities and constituencies of environment and security
2. Have an in-depth understanding of the relationship between environment and security
3. Be familiar with key concepts of and approaches to the environment/security nexus through national, global and international/cooperative examples
4. Be familiar with traditional and emerging systems of norms of relevance to environment and security
5. Gain an in-depth appreciation of environment and security with respect to a particular topic of the student’s interest (written assignment)
6. Be able to critically evaluate trends and concepts in a rapidly evolving policy field
7. Be able to examine and explore the implications of the securitization of environmental issues
8. Be able to apply knowledge gained in the course to concrete policy issues
