Course Description: 

The aim of this course is to provide students with the key skills required to research and write a thesis in the field of environmental sciences and policy. Each of the 6 classes looks at writing issues related to a separate element of the MS thesis: the thesis proposal; the introduction; literature review; methods; main body; conclusions, recommendations and abstract.

Learning Outcomes: 

Familiarity with the key structural components of theses and research papers in the field; Ability to critically evaluate the quality of structural features of theses; Ability to write good thesis introductions, literature reviews, conclusions, abstracts; Increased capacity to write proposals and research reports.

Assessment: 

Class attendance and completion of required written assignments; class is for pass/fail.
